Getting ready for the Community Coffee Social - October 16, 2024

Who are the Tri-Village Volunteers?

The Tri-Village Volunteers was loosely formed in late 2023 and incorporated as a society in November 2024 by local folk who want to volunteer to help the community. There are currently 24 members who paid $1 each to be such until October 31, 2029. The members were clear on the fact that they were happy to volunteer, but did not want to attend monthly meetings, so there is only one meeting late in each year, the AGM. Possible TVV projects are brought forward by individuals willing to lead them and if approved by the membership the project is initiated and has its own leadership and meetings as needed to support the project.

Membership is by nomination and approval by the current membership, but most people simply want to be on a volunteer list and called when needed.

Our core activities are planning and executing events and projects of our own plus helping other organizations with their community efforts. The first two projects we launched in co-operation with the Rec Society is the non-summer monthly Coffee Social followed by a joint effort to grow the Spring Plant Sale, the third annual of which just occurred. One TVV project actively under way is an effort to acquire the Wasa Elementary School for community use. Another, a feasibility analysis for the possible extension of the Lions Path to Cameron Pond is in still in the early stages.

Last year we supported the Rec Society’s fire-proofing efforts re-siding of the Community Hall by donating the funds from the 2025 Spring Plant Sale and by organizing volunteer labour to remove the existing flammable vinyl siding. As a fundraiser, members do set up for the Rec Society bingo nights and supply catering. Volunteers also assist the Lions club with their annual fundraiser of organizing parking for the Wasa Lake Triathlon and by helping with year-round maintenance of the Lions Path.
